Welcome to the UK Radio Player

All across the country excited people this morning leapt out of their beds two hours before their faulty iphone4 alarms went off (sorry Apple) and prepared themselves for something big in the world of radio and the internet.

The launch of UK Radio Player

So, what’s so exciting about UK Radio Player? Well, it’s a web application that allows you to listen to more or less all radio stations / commercial and or BBC from the one dashboard. Choose by music style, artist, station name, geography etc…you get the point, it’s searchable and clever. A One stop shop.

Perhaps most remarkably it represents a real team effort from the commercial radio and non commercial radio sector.

The fundamental aim of UK Radio Player is to grab more consumer advertising consumption hours for radio and in particular for online radio. By offering a one stop shop, some of the measures coming out of UK Radio Player will be interesting to factor into the overall market too.

We’ve spent months looking at the prototype and understanding the innards of this evolution. As of today, it’s available to all.
