Getting your voice heard

Your voice is unique. No two peoples’ voices are exactly the same.

Oddly though, this uniqueness is not celebrated in all areas of the country. Research carried out by the Radio Advertising Bureau shows there are two major UK cities where the population doesn’t like to hear their own accents on radio. These cities are Birmingham and Bristol.

talkSPORT scores rights to World Cup

Last week talkSPORT announced that they’ve secured live commentary rights to the 2014 football World Cup in Brazil.

Radio is expected to receive a big boost in listenership around The World Cup, as the Brazilians have moved the games to early kick-offs to meet the needs of European TV audiences.

Many of the games will start at 5PM BST which means people will be trying to find a way to keep in touch with the action when they’re at work or on their way home. Radio is the perfect medium as fans can enjoy the game, whilst at the same time getting on with their daily lives.

This is undoubtedly one of radio’s core strengths – to reach people easily where other media simply can’t.
